Today is the day that you master the five "mother sauces" of classic French cuisine. Knowing the five basic mother sauces is as helpful to the food lover as it is to the chef. Understanding these sauces will help you read menus, decide what to order, and determine what wines might pair best with your meal. For cooks and chefs alike, learning to make the five mother sauces is a basic skill that will open up a world of culinary possibilities.

What's on the Menu?   

  • Bechamel: Cauliflower and Pancetta Au Gratin
  • Espagnole: Pork Cutlets with Wild Mushroom Sauce
  • Tomato: Fried Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara Dipping Sauce
  • Hollandaise: Oven Grilled Asparagus
  • Veloute: Skillet Roasted Chicken with Veloute Sauce

What to Expect?   

The class begins with some prep work followed by our chef leading the group through the recipes while leaving a little room for some laughs and socializing along the way.  

What skills will be Covered?   

This technique based class will focus on the fundaments of sauce making. In addition to learning about these important sauces you will also learn about selecting and preparing vegetables, working with pork and chicken, and how to safely deep fry.

When will we Eat?   

It takes time to make a great meal and in general it will take 2 to 2.5 hours for the food to be served.   

Can we bring something to Drink?   

Absolutely, our classes are BYOB!

Cancellations must be made by calling us at 773-293-3190. Those who provide cancellation for a class one week (seven days) in advance will receive a full refund or store credit to apply the class cost to a future class. No refund or store credit can be given less than seven days in advance.
